Dr. Liu is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. She is licensed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and North Carolina.
Dr. Liu is highly experienced in managing a variety of diseases: diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, allergy, depression, insomnia, anxiety, as well as acute problems, such as skin rashes, sinusitis, ear infection, sore throat, cough, stomachache, etc. She also had extensive training in the Eastern medicine and is licensed in acupuncture in New York and New Jersey.
The goal of Dr. Liu’s medical care is to optimize the benefits of medicine and decrease the side effects of medical interventions. After informed consent and shared decision making, Dr. Liu helps you choose the best treatment plan, the most appropriate medication if needed, and find the lowest effective dose just for you. She regards herself as your health coach, as well as your doctor. Dr. Liu believes that a doctor is the patients’ life long health companion and helps patients age functionally and successfully. Her grandma is 101 and able to walk 4 flights of stairs without a cane.
Dr. Liu earned her Medical Degree at Tianjin Medical University, China. After Medical school, she was awarded a full fellowship to pursue her PhD at Rutgers University in Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine. She was honored to accept the pre-match to her medical residency at Coney Island Hospital and fellowship training at NYU-Langone Medical Center, where she was awarded best fellow of the year. After graduation of her fellowship, she continued her career at NYU as a primary care physician specializing in Geriatrics. Her youngest patient is 16 and her oldest patient is 103.
Dr. Liu is well experienced in taking care of young adults as well as complicated geriatric patients. Some patients travel long distances just to see Dr. Liu. To quote one of the primary care physicians who referred geriatric patients to Dr. Liu: “Dr. Liu is the only doctor who can help you.” -- reported by the patient's family members.
Due to Dr. Liu’s outstanding performance in patient care, 10 months after working at NYU, she was invited to be the medical director at Cortlandt Healthcare Inc. Lots of patients had great improvement in their health after being seen by Dr. Liu.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Liu has extensive experience in teaching medicine. She taught medical student at Rutgers Medical school, was a teaching physician at Albert Einstein Medical School, taught interns and residents at Coney Island Hospital and NYU-Langone Medical center. She enjoys teaching and constantly teaches her patients throughout her daily practice. She was rated 5 stars by her interns, residents and students. She made educational videos on Youtube. She believes that the more the patients know, the better they can take care themselves.
